Children start their journey with us in the reception class at age 4. Occasionally, there are limited spots available as you move up to other year groups

Our admissions process involves direct application by the child’s parents, or by referral from local authorities.

Here’s what you need to do to get started:

Register Your Child: Begin by registering your child for potential enrolment.

For 4+ entry, you can register your interest online anytime from birth up to 6 months before September when your child is set to begin school.

Open Days and Assessment Application: Once registered, your information will be on our records. The year before your child is eligible to join (e.g., Spring 2023 for September 2024 entry), you’ll receive an invitation to attend an Open Day (these are held in Spring, Summer, and Early Autumn). At this point, parents can indicate if they want their child to be assessed for entry and complete an Entrance Assessment Application Form.

4+ Entry Assessment: Assessments happen in January of the entry year. Appointment times are shared 2 months before with parents who’ve returned their assessment forms.

Our assessment is not about advanced academics; it takes about an hour and happens in a relaxed, nurturing setting like a small nursery. Children engage in short, play-based tasks, and we observe their interactions, explorations, and explanations.

Offers are based on evaluating your child’s potential, abilities, and attitude—regardless of their background. We seek children who are curious and enthusiastic about learning.

Registration, Notification, and Acceptance:

After assessment, we’ll notify you about available spots. To secure a place, a non-refundable fee of £150 and a £1,500 deposit are required. This must be accepted within the deadline. The deposit is non-refundable if the place isn’t taken up. If you accept an offer, you’ll sign the School’s agreement, forming a contract.

Most siblings usually join us, but admission isn’t automatic. Places might not be offered if the assessment suggests a better fit elsewhere.

Fees may change termly, with a term’s notice. Changes are typically made annually at the start of each school year.

Fees are due termly through direct debit, collected on the first day of term. Alternatively, you can choose monthly repayments.

Thank you for considering Imperial Oak Prep School. We look forward to possibly welcoming your child to our community for an incredible journey.
