EYFS

At Imperial Oak Preparatory School, children are encouraged to be independent, resilient and responsible learners.

We help them to do this by setting up opportunities for learning which are based on fun, engaging topics as well as children’s needs and interests.

We follow the EYFS curriculum and hold learning through play and exploration in high regard.

The three characteristics of effective learning

1. Playing and exploring

2. Active learning

3. Creating and thinking critically

We follow and expand on the EYFS Statutory curriculum, which includes the 7 areas of learning and development which are of equal importance and are interconnected.

The prime areas are:

Communication and language

Physical development

Personal, social and emotional development.

These prime areas are strengthened and applied through four specific areas.

Literacy

Mathematics

Understanding the world

Expressive arts and design.
